<< Nyekk >> Carcassonne home rules

0 megjegyzés
I just had a very disturbing dream that made me all sad, I just couldn't sleep anymore. So I thought about writing an entry here on the blog.

One to the city, one to the farm

Lately, as some of you might know, we became kinda addicted to the game Carcassonne, and it became a regular-like activity to play at Fridays after school. After playing a round or two with our newest addition, Burgmeister & nantoka, we found out we didn't really use the new features after all. We thought that we might improve the situation by inventing a home rule set for them. Mizu wanted to bring more "fantasy" and "adventure" into the game. That resulted in a wild brainstorming getting us nowhere :P But a few of the ideas survived after that, even if in a somewhat mutated form.

The final map, you can see some of the modification, most notable the sign on cloisters/cults

We playtested it this Tuesday, it worked pretty well with three players. And we did a four player match on Friday. Well it still has some rough edges, but in overall, it works pretty well. And of course, it's fun, which is the most important. :)
It was a rather long game, and at the end Mizu triumphed with a score of about 370. We weren't jealous, not even a little :P

Our winner is dashing about! I just happen to like this pic.

Next week, we will be going to try out M.A.G.U.S., a Hungarian rpg, with N (in "Mizu notation") as our gamemaster.

N is trying to enchant the dragon by radiating strong magical carma.

I just remembered, the clock jumped a whole hour forward a little while ago. Don't you just hate it when it happens?!

Now I shall get some sleep after all, I got some work to do today. And I got hungry anyways.

{{ mizuki }} Killing your tongue

0 megjegyzés
Hello,

yeah, it's me again. I just thought I should share a few jaw-breakers we made.
The first one was made in the summer camp:

弟の一昨日のノート。
おとうと の おととい の ノート。
otouto no ototoi no nooto.
My younger brother's yesterday's note.

And these were made by me:

佳音の女の子のお中の中の子は女の子かな。。
かのん の おんな の こ の おなか の なか の こ は おんな の こ かな。。
Kanon no onna no ko no onaka no naka no ko ha onna no ko kana..
I wonder if the girl called Kanon's belly's child is girl..

実は修二さんは執事です。
じつは しゅうじさん は しつじ です。
jitsu ha shuuji san ha shitsuji desu.
To be frank, Shuuji is a butler.

I made people say them, most of them had troubles with saying the last one, and remembering the 2nd :D
If you are Japanese or learning Japanese, please try them out and let me know how you did :D

{{ mizuki }} St Patrick's day and anniversary

0 megjegyzés
Hello guys,

So the day has come. The day when we had our first anniversary for our learning Japanese :) It's an easy to remember date, because it's on St Patrick's day ^^ So we though why not do the same things we did last year. MAybe you still remember.. we arrived the place 2 hours earlier, so we went to eat at the McDonald's and took a picture. This one:

So since we had a Japanese class on this day, we went to McDonald's again, and took some photos :) It's interesting to see how much we changed in a year. At the class we did 3kyuu tests and realized how much we still don't know... so it gave us a push to continue the hard work on learning. On Wednesday we did karaoke at class.. Blue Light Yokohama, an enka song, which made us remember the summer camp, and all the good memories.

And Nyekk made me this cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute little Ponyo with cross stitching. Isn't it cute??? I love it soo much ^^ my very own Ponyo. I put her on my bookshelf. (at the background you can see Bijou from Hamtaro and presents from my friend from Korea :)

After that I realized that since she was looking to left, she either watched Luffy (one piece) or Harry's butt... ^^;;;

Gadget update:
- mobile: my old phone the Benq-Siemens EF81... we decided to switch with Nyekk, since the last Sony Ericsson didn't really suited me and my sim card.
- pda: I switched the Samsung i607 and got an MDA Compact II, which can now fullfill my apetite for ppc programs. I have 4 dictionaries on it (eng-hun, eng-japanese, eng-korean, eng-chinese) so now I'm up-to-date :P And many many videos :D like CMs and clips from youtube.
The rest of them remained the same :P

I watched Smallville's 7th season and currently watching the 8th. I was always a fan of Smallville you now. I think I'm an ever more shipper for Clana (Clark x Lana) than Yamaki (Yamapi x Maki) XD

Currently reading Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere, which Nyekk already read. It's a fantastic book, I highly recommend if you like sci-fi/fantasy books. We watched the movie Coraline, which was adapted from Gaiman's book of the same title. It was cool ^^ also, if you haven't watched Stardust (again, his work), watch it!!!
Other movie we watched was Hallmark's Legend of Earthsea, and we fall in love with the 'world'. The original book was written by Ursula K. Le Guin, it has continuation too and is similar to Harry Potter and LOTR, tough not as good, but still enjoyable :).

Hope you guys are fine,
Take care

<< Nyekk >> Nameday present

0 megjegyzés
I just wanted to show you the present I got from Mizu for my nameday!

What is a nameday you ask? Well it's a popular sidekick of birthdays in Hungary. In fact, like a birthday, everyone has at least one. The days of the calendars were given names, each of them at least one, but in most cases, there can be many. And you can celebrate it like your birthday, if the day matches your name :)

Mizu-chan made me a case, for my recently purchased Jornada 720 handheld pc. It's a handsewed case, very well made despite the fact she didn't have a Jornada for size comparison. I'm sure you can recognize the kanji on it, it has some connection to this blog =-_^=

I'm really happy with this present, I will treasure it, thank you! ^^

<< Nyekk >> JLPT, we did it!

"It was a dark and rainy night, splashing raindrops sounded on the closed window, like a bored drummer running his fingers in a random rythm on a hardwood table. Then an automatic door slided open, and a man walked in. He weared a long, black coat, the ones you see on secret agents, with the high collar. However, he was not a secret agent, although as a child he often dreamt about as such. Maybe a faint reason why he chose such a ridiculus outfit. The man carried a box, it was roughly the size of the papers they use in the xerox machine. Maybe a little wider. He put the box on the desk by the wall, and started to wait, with one of those looks, when someone is making an important meeting, and the other party has not arrived yet. He was about to walk his eyes over the furniture of the small room, which was by any standards, spartan...but then it happened.
The door to the outside opened with a loud scratch, and suddenly the forces of nature got an opportunity to enter the room, without even asking. The cold wind took a quick look around the room, and after not finding anything interesting in particular, it rested on the heater, silently dissipating. The few raidrops that got in through the open door wasn't that lucky.
Only a little while after they rested on the rubber floormat and started to stretch out a little, a large, muddy boot tripped over them. Then another one followed. As muddy boots rarely walk around by themselves, the present case wasn't different either. The occuppant was rather heavy in weight, and his width accorded to this. He was often told, that double doors were invented for his sake. And he wasn't offended by this at all. He was proud of his looks. His clothes were mostly consisted of a waterproof blueish coat, and a shielded cap. Of course he wore other clothes under the coat, but this was what the first sight observer could tell by a glance. He stepped forward, and towered on the other, who had to look up in order to meet his eye. The spy coated man talked first.
"Welcome. Pretty cruel rain we got here, eh?", he said in slightly crooked, asian accented english. He liked to speak in english, it always felt so official.
"Nothing like California", answered the wide-tower man, slightly shaking his coat, like a wet dog. "So, I heard you a job for me."
The man would looked like any ordinary man, if it was not for his cap, having a sign of a dolphin, holding a letter in its mouth. It was curled around a small lineart version of the globe. That sign, and the POST lettered plate on the side of his truck made this man a special kind of man. A postman.
"Yes...about that..", his voice was now slightly nervous, not sure where to start. Then the box on the table caught his eye.
"It's about this box. It contains very sensitive information, about selected people in a small country. It is utmost importance that the delivery must happen before spring breaks in. There were other boxes like this, but they are all gone by now, this is the last of its kind. Because of this you must be very careful, but at the same time, you must hurry." as he talked, the other man listened, his expression unchanged all along, spreading an aura of professionalism. "We have little time," spy-coat continued, "and there will be ones who may want to stop you, wild dogs, you have to fight the weather, struggle on your way, but you must prevail. Hapiness of hundreds of people are on you."
"I understand." said wide-tower as spy-coat handed him the box. "I will not fail."
And with not saying an another thing, he set out for his truck, into the hard rain. Spy-coat was watching as the other got into the drivers seat. My work is done here, that was as much as I could do, thought himself, as he was heading back on the high-tech corridors of the test correcting facility.
Meanwhile, the truck rolled out of the parking lot, and was on its way to the harbour.
Thus, the journey began..."

Maybe that's not the exact way it happened, but it could have been, because it took sooooo long for the test results to got here, maybe the dogs were half succesful, delaying the postman on his mission to deliver the box.
But last week, we got it finally! Mizu got hers some days later, because they post to the country people first, and later for the city people. For that reason, Mizu had some hard days waiting for her letter, but when she got it (we were on Japanese class) everyone was happy for her. ^^ Everyone has passed the exam, and we fulfilled our expectation to reach at least 90% :P
We had to celebrate this success, so we arranged a little ramentaberu at Momotaro ramen restaurant. We also invited Hikaru (she got her 3kyuu), and she brought her friend, too. We ate more or less of the ramen. (I can almost never finish the bowl, because it is too much for me ^^;;;), then we reflected to the summer camp together. Hikaru told us, that this years camp would take place at a different city. It will be interesting :)

After this afternoon ramen, I am travelling home on the train, but I'm still not hungry :P
Mata ne,
