<< Nyekk >> Ultra Maniac

Hey There!
First of all, we did a little overhaul to this place, how do you like it? :) I am still experimenting with some stuff like the in-post avatar you see there <--- :P

This week, I will tell you about Ultra Maniac, a Manga by Yoshizumi Wataru! I recently finished it, and had a fun reading. The story is centered around a transfer student, from the Magic Kingdom, who came to Earth to study in an ordinary school. She ought to keep it secret from others, but she decides to share her secret with a classmate, and that's where it starts to become interesting...
There are 5 volumes total. The first 3 volume is more of a comical story, how magic can go wrong and such, in the background the neccessary love lines are beginning to outline however. By the last two volumes, it becomes centered around feelings mostly. The characters are loveable, the girls are cute, there are no incredibly evil persons here, so it creates a good atmosphere.
While the setting is magical, it is not the general fantasy manga, as magic is mostly done differently, nothing flashy there, no wands and potions. As the author noted, she never did a magical themed story before, so it's kind of a first for her, and that's why she did it other way around. But there are Magic PDA-s, with big RAM (Random Access Magic) :D Cats who turn into humans, and vica versa :3
And finally, the manga has my favourite "outsider" comments, made by the characters. It is when they make comments about the manga or the plotline, or even the author, I very much like those :P
All in all, it was a good read, if you have time, read it, it is only five volume in length. There is also an anime version, which I didn't saw, but as the author wrote in her free talk sessions, it is fundamentally different from the manga, it is more centered on fantasy and magic, than romantic lines. Maybe I will watch that, too. :)
